Essential skill for young people to safely care for children

Delivered by an accredited trainer, this training is typically aimed at young teens (ages 11-15), although older teens and adults may also take the course. The goal is to equip the babysitter with practical, hands-on skills and knowledge to handle a variety of situations while caring for children. See the course below.

Basic Childcare

Safety and Emergency Skills

Basic childcare class will teach the basic skills of how tp care for a veils and will include;

  • Infant and toddler care: Proper handling, feeding, and diapering techniques for young children.
  • Basic child development: Understanding the different stages of child development and how to engage with children of various ages.
  • Safe play: How to create a safe and enjoyable environment for children through appropriate games and activities.

Safety and Emergency Skills

An essential skills that will for empower a young person  to respond effectively and confidently during medical emergencies, potentially saving lives before emergency medical services (EMS) arrive. Skills that will be taught in this class with include; 


  • First aid and CPR: Basic first aid skills and CPR for infants and children, including how to handle emergencies like choking, burns, and falls.
  • Safety tips: Teaching how to childproof a home, avoid hazards, and manage difficult situations like fire or weather emergencies.
  • Preventing injuries: Identifying common risks (e.g., drowning, suffocation) and how to prevent them.

Leadership and Communication

Babysitting isn’t just about watching children — it’s about being a leader, a role model, and a trusted communicator. Whether it's helping with homework, calming an upset  toddler, or updating parents after a long day, the ability to lead and communicate clearly can make all the difference. Out training will give our young student the skills to: 

  • Effective communication with children and parents: How to set expectations, provide instructions, and communicate effectively with both kids and their parents.
  • Managing behavior: How to handle discipline and manage challenging behavior in a calm, positive way.
  • Decision-making: How to make quick decisions when faced with unexpected situations or emergencies.

Basic Nutrition and Meal Prep

Taking care of a baby means more than just keeping them entertained — it also means helping them stay healthy and happy through proper nutrition. As a babysitter, knowing the basics of baby food, bottle prep, and safe feeding is an important part of your job. Our courses will equip the the young  with the skills to: 


  •  Feeding guidelines: Providing proper meals for different age groups, and recognizing food allergies and dietary restrictions.
  • Healthy snacks: Preparing and offering nutritious snacks for kids.
